|Making stuff is fun, various robots and 3D stuff. Andy thinks robotics is an integration of different technologies. And he is still learning them. His first robot was built in 1998. It was for his second year project in UBC – fire fighting robot. Then, he started building robots for fighting (Botbash.com, Arizona), maze robot (Seattle Robotics), automation, bipedal robots (Japan). His full-time job is R&D for different companies. From Laser Ethernet, wireless stuff, smart antenna, FPGA, parallel processing, imaging processing to Big LED screen. Now, he is entering 3D drawing and makes it into real object.|

BlinkyTape is a one meter long, full-color light tape with 60 independent RGB LEDs controlled by our custom light processor. Power and communications are provided by a built-in micro-USB connector. An on-board button allows for simple interactions such as choosing between effects.
BlinkyTape is flexible, so you can easily integrate it into any shape your project needs. BlinkyTape also comes enclosed in weatherproof silicone, so it’s suitable for outdoor use!
For the Hong Kong Maker Faire, I will make a small interactive LED sculpture using some BlinkyTape.

|The Groovesizer is a DIY 32-step sequencer and synthesizer based on the Arduino platform. The Groovesizer is a sonic chameleon and can be made to sound radically different by uploading different firmware. Whereas the original design was based on an unaltered Arduino Uno, the current version of the Groovesizer is built on a custom PCB (multiboard) that extends the normal Arduino’s input and output pins through the use of multiplexer chips. The multiboard features 40 tactile switches and leds, 6 potentiometers, an 8-bit DAC, an amplifier IC, an EEPROM chip for storing a large number of sequencer patterns, along with MIDI in- and outputs and audio output jacks. It features an embedded hackduino, and is configurable via jumpers to work with some of the most popular existing arduino audio projects. Firmware can be updated from the standard Arduino IDE, either via an AVR ISP programmer, or by flashing the chip on an Arduino board and swapping it out – firmware update via MIDI is also planned. The Groovesizer is open source hardware and all design and firmware files will be made available at launch. The Groovesizer will become available in kit form in September 2013.|
